Even though February is the shortest month of the year,it can seem very long!
Especially when the month has been as cold as this year but ahhhh we dream of spring and planting(and weeding?!)
This is the month where I finally get all the bookwork caught up and see where we have made money (and where we have NOT made money this past year),what a satisfying feeling of accomplishment!
Even the chickens don't like the cold short days of winter and although we extend their hours of light somewhat with automatic lighting, the daily number of eggs is still small. The new layer chicks that we are starting have been challenging to keep at the right temperature but are now big enough to be out in a bigger pen and creating their own heat.
As I mentioned last month, new lambs being born this time of the year is so fun, they are such beautiful little creatures!!
Still learning how to put pictures on here but I promise I will have some up soon:)
We have had two busy weeks of delivering veggie boxes this month, storage veggies are definitely disappearing! Onions are finished(they were such beauties this year, some of them weighing almost 3 lbs)and beets are coming to the end.
However we are going to plant spinach in the greenhouse this week....it is like going south to be in there this time of year! Also just when our crop of onions finishes, the new onion seeds need to be planted and so the life cycle of growing goes on!
Reflecting over the last year,we continue to appreciate how many people support local and organic!
A year ago this month we started a new delivery in Winsloe, our customer base there has grown and continues to do so and we look forward to more joining us as the year progresses.
Okay,will talk more soon!
